O'Grady grew up in Wheaton, Illinois, and attended the Wheaton North High School in the year 1981. She is the child of Jan O'Grady (a financial planner) as well as Jim O'Grady. She was raised in Wheaton and attended Wheaton North School. She was a graduate in 1981. In commercials, she appeared prior to moving from Wheaton, Illinois to Los Angeles.
